The church of St. Jovan Kaneo is one of the most famous churches in Ohrid. It is located on the rocky hill on the Kaneo beach in the old part of the city.

The church is part of the Macedonian Orthodox Church and has one of the most beautiful views of the world. 

The exact date for church building is not known. However, in the analysis of iconography and architecture, it is assumed that the church was built at the end of the 12th and the middle of the 13th century. 

Viewed from an iconographic point of view, this church provides a great deal of information about the history of medieval painting in Macedonia. According to the iconographic features, it is associated with the tradition of the Comnes' art. The church has a particularly pronounced modification of the component elements, which helps to determine the chronology more closely.

Today, Kaneo has preserved a good portion of its original frescoes, but of course some modifications have been made in this regard, but its original charm has been retained to this day, which is pretty good taking into account the fact that the church was abandoned for a long time.

The church is in the form of a rectangle with a cross included. Inside is very small, but beautiful.
