The National Park Pelister is located on the northern part of the Baba Mountain with a total area of 17,150 hectares , and is the third highest mountain peak in Macedonia. It was proclaimed in 1948 as the first protected natural treasure in Macedonia. It abounds with various rare endemic species of plants and animals. The climate in Pelister is characterized by short and fresh summers and long and cold winters.

A specific plant that dominates in the forest's wood species is Molika, which is also a symbol of the Pelister National Park. The Molika grows only on several mountains on the Balkan Peninsula and is a five-legged pine and is resistant to frigidness and strong winds, and some trees are older than 230 years.

Pelister abounds with clear springs and mountain rivers with Pelister and Pelagonia trout.

The trademark of the National Park Pelister is the Great Lake and the Small Lake, known as Pelister's Eyes. The Great Lake is located at an altitude of 2218 meters above sea level and is one of the highest glacial lakes in Macedonia, and the Little Lake is located at 2180 above sea level and is in the spring of the Crvena Reka. There is a legend about the origin of these lakes and it is believed that they have been created by the tears of two sisters who were constantly crying for a boy.

The most impressive features of the Pelister's fauna are the presence of many endemic species, among which are the Amphipod shrimp, which lives in the Great Lake and the Violin shrimp which lives in the Small Lake.

People say that "who once was on Pelister, will certainly come back ...".
